What to see in Schwangau
Schwangau is a municipality in the district of Ostallgäu in Baviera, Germany. The town is 4 kilometers from the city of Füssen and only 1.5 kilometers from Hohenschwangau, a tourist center oriented towards its greatest attraction the neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castle.
Schwangau has no train station, but it is possible to get there through buses in connection with Fussen, Hohenschwangau, and others close to the Alpine cities. It is the penultimate town on the romantic tourist excursion that ends at Fussen.
Castrum Swangowe dates from 1090. It was located at the place of Neuschwanstein Castle and his property was in charge of the house of Elder House of Welf.
